Students record increased preferences for UB

The University of Ballarat has recorded a 4.9 per cent increase in first preferences by prospective higher education students compared with 2008.

The encouraging increase also was accompanied by a healthy 11.8 per cent rise in total preferences.

“These figures demonstrate that UB is continuing to be a popular university for more students within and beyond our region,” Professor David Battersby, Vice-Chancellor, said.

“UB programs where there is strong demand include Nursing, Education, Human Movement and Sports Sciences and the Visual and Performing Arts.

“For 2009, increasing interest is also being shown in Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences, Business, and Science and Engineering.”

In addition, the new bio-medical program launched in 2008 continues to show strong demand.
