Stipendium Australien
Scholarship für Student aus Vietnam
Alison Nguyen from Vietnam, an Education student from the University of Ballarat, has been awarded the IELTS Australia Peace Scholarship Student of the Year Award.
At an award ceremony in Sydney, Alison was awarded $750 in recognition of her contribution to university and community life while in Australia on the Peace Scholarship Program.
The Peace Scholarship Program provides opportunities for eligible students in selected countries worldwide to study abroad in Australia for one or two semesters. It promotes the interaction of diverse cultures through international education opportunities and aims to improve cross-cultural understanding leading to enduring global peace.
There were six finalists at the awards ceremony, each submitting a written application documenting their contributions to the community. Alison’s application was outstanding as it highlighted the diverse and extensive community work she had been engaged in since arriving in Australia three months ago.
During her acceptance speech, Alison enthusiastically thanked the University of Ballarat for their support and the community organisations for allowing her the opportunity to work with them.
Karen Felstead, a Lecturer from the School of Education, flew to Sydney to support Alison at the award ceremony and stated that Alison presented an excellent acceptance speech and was a wonderful role model to other students.
“We congratulate Alison on this prestigious award,” Professor Lawrie Angus, Head of the School of Education, said.
“Alison is a popular and well-respected student in our School. Her contribution to peace issues at UB has been outstanding.”
